Stretch Marks Reduction
Stretch marks are fold lines that appear on the skin’s surface. Generally, the main cause of stretch mark is due to the stretching of the skin.

The most obvious would be stretch marks left behind after pregnancy, which is caused by the stretching of a woman’s belly skin. Apart from pregnancy, weight gain and weight loss can both cause stretch marks as well.

Not all stretch marks are exactly alike. Very often, stretch mark looks pretty much different from individual to individual. In general, stretch marks start with the fold line being red, pink, brown, or purple. What has happened here is that the elastic fibres beneath the skin has ruptured due to the over-stretching of the skin. Consequently, damage to the skin is caused to the connective tissue fiber which causes lacerations.

After the initial reddish / brownish colored lines, the lines tend to fade off to a silvery whitish color. This is the classic “stretch mark look”.

There are some scientific studies indicating that once stretch marks becomes silvery whitish in color, along with deep dents along the lines, treatment becomes very difficult.

As with many skin conditions such as wrinkles, frown lines and forehead lines, early treatment of stretch marks is paramount in ensuring that the stretch marks don’t become permanent.

One of the ways of preventing stretch marks is to moisturize the skin three to four times a day. The skin becomes more elastic and pliant, making it able to stretch when it is hydrated.

If moisturizing diligently failed to work or if you already have stretch marks on your skin, do not worry.

It is a Myth that entrenched, long-time silvery stretch marks which had been on your skin for years cannot be removed. Many women are resigned to the fact that stretch marks are generally permanent and cannot be removed. The Reality is that although entrenched stretch marks cannot be 100% removed, our CO2 Laser Resurfacing & Radiofrequency Skin Tightening treatment can noticeably reduce stretch marks to a large extent.*

Fractional CO2 Laser is an ablative laser which shaves off tiny-dotted fractions of skin. The treatment smudges the silvery borders of the stretch marks, which make less distinct.* This is the best available treatment for stretch marks.*
For stretch marks which are at their initial stages – red or purple stretch marks. This laser also helps the skin to increase collagen production which promotes skin elasticity.*

Thermage RF skin tightening is another option for improving the appearance of stretch marks by tightening loose, wrinkly and crumpled skin.*

Apart from laser or RF treatments, there are other treatments which may also possibly enhance and be effective in the treatment of stretch marks, such as topical tretinoin cream.

We also recommend a post care regime of topical hydrocortisone (on prescription only), a moisturizing skin repair cream and sunblock for at least a week after each treatment session.
