The Skin Booster Injection is used to reduce the effects of aging on skin, and is designed to gradually rejuvenate the skin in areas such as the face, hands, neck and décolletage
What medical technology or device does this treatment utilise and how it is done?
The Skin Booster Injection procedure is done by using a micro-puncture injector device loaded with Hyaluronic Acid Fillers (Dermal Facial Fillers), and injecting the drops of filler into the desired spot underneath the face, hands, neck and décolletage skin.
The delivery of filler using a micro-puncture technique has proven effective in skin rejuvenation. This method involves performing numerous injections of small amounts of gel in a semi-random distribution across the treatment area. The injector device delivers a controlled volume, allowing the doctor to concentrate solely on the placement of the facial dermal filler into the mid-dermal layers and facilitating an even distribution of filler across the injected area.
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring component found in the skin, eye and cartilage. Approximately half of human body’s natural occurring hyaluronic acid is found in the skin, and as such is biocompatible and biodegradable (absorbable) by the human body.
Hyaluronic Acid has many roles, though a major function is the binding of water, and it is this which determines skin viscoelasticity, hydration, structure and firmness. As skin ages, natural dermal hyaluronic acid found in the skin decreases and results in reduced elasticity, volume loss, and the development of rhytids and other aging features. The injection of filler into the skin can thus improve hydration, elasticity, structure, firmness and volume of treated skin.
What are the likely results? Any side effects or downtime?
An overall improvement of skin quality should be seen in treatment areas. The Skin Booster Injection treatment can also act as a reservoir of long-lasting hydration, thereby leaving the skin smooth and soft, whilst improving skin quality and lustre. Repeated treatments can also lead to gradual skin rejuvenation over time.
There may be some skin bruising and redness after treatments which should resolve within 2 weeks.
Findings suggest that repeated treatments can lead to gradual skin rejuvenation over time. Depending on skin type and area undergoing treatment, a maintenance treatment schedule of one session every 4 to 6 months may be feasible for sustained improvement in skin quality.
