What can this treatment possibly do?
Patients with a small chin have typical features such as a wide and short face, protruded mouth, chin drooping, exposed teeth due to incomplete lip closure, bunching and pouting, and wrinkles and dimpling of the skin.
The Chin Filler treatment contouring technique can be used to feminize and lengthen a wide and
short face to give the appearance of a smaller face and an oval shaped almond face.
Btx injection into hypertrophied masseters is a popular contemporary form of non-invasive lower face contouring. However, this procedure alone does not address the facial length deficiency in patients whose faces are wide and short.
The wide face appearance may be attributed to masseteric hypertrophy and/or mandibular angle posterior hyperostosis or lateral flaring, and the presence of a weak deficient chin accentuates the unflattering squaring of the face.
What medical technology or device does this treatment utilise and how it is done?
The Chin Filler injection procedure is done by injecting Hyaluronic Acid Filler / Facial Dermal Filler into the desired spot underneath the skin of the chin to contour, lengthen and enhance the chin.
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring component found in the skin, eye and cartilage. Approximately half of human body’s natural occurring hyaluronic acid is found in the skin, and as such is biocompatible and biodegradable (absorbable) by the human body.
Hyaluronic acid has many roles, though a major function is the binding of water, and it is this which determines skin viscoelasticity, hydration, structure and firmness. As skin ages, natural dermal hyaluronic acid found in the skin decreases and results in reduced elasticity, volume loss, and the development of wrinkles (rhytids) and other aging features. The injection of dermal filler into the skin can thus improve hydration, elasticity, structure, firmness and volume of treated skin.
Dermal fillers, such as those containing hyaluronic acid, are very suitably used for three dimensional facial contouring and reflation of the face, correcting volume loss and addressing static wrinkles (rhytids). They have been successfully used for facial correction and can be combined with the use of Btx for correcting dynamic wrinkles (rhytids).
What are the likely results? Any side effects or downtime?
The dermal filler procedure is commonly used for chin augmentation because of the minimal down time and fewer complications.
After the chin filler procedure, the proportion of lower face was significantly changed that the ratio of upper and middle 1/3 were decreased, and the ratio of lower 1/3 was increased. Lower facial contour was changed from round shape to elliptical (oval) shape and mouth looked smaller and less protruded.
The small chin and contour of the lower face were notably improved. Bunching and pouting with a mental dimple, perioral wrinkles, and labio-mandibular folds immediately disappeared.
The length of the lower one-third from the lower border of the face was increased and its proportional ratio to the lower face was also increased. It supported the change of contour in the lower face from round with a sagging appearance to elliptical (oval) with a lifted appearance.
The Chin Filler also strongly supported the anterior projection of the small chin, and eventually, the mouth looked smaller and less protruding. There may also be a decreased gap between the lips due to increased skeletal support by the chin augmentation.

This treatment has synergy and can be combined with?
The Dermal Chin Filler can be used to feminize and lengthen a wide and short face. However, this procedure alone does not address the facial length deficiency in patients whose faces are broad and short.
In this regard, dermal chin filler injection can be combined with the Btx face slimming jaw reduction injection. Btx injections into the masseter can alter the shape of the jawline, reducing a square jaw appearance, with substantial reduction in muscle thickness and bulk. The combined treatments can give the appearance of a longer, oval shaped face.
