Frequently asked questions
Is laser hair removal permanent?
It is better described as long-term hair reduction. Some follicles may not respond, and hormonal or other factors can produce new growth, so maintenance may be needed.
Why are multiple sessions used?
Hair follicles cycle through different growth phases, and light-based treatment is most effective on suitable pigmented hair in an active phase. Timing is individualised.
Which hair responds best?
Response depends on the contrast between hair pigment and skin tone, hair thickness, treatment area and device. Grey, white or very light hair may respond poorly.
What risks can occur?
Redness, swelling around follicles, discomfort, burns, blistering, scarring or darker or lighter pigment can occur, particularly with unsuitable settings or recent tanning.
